Getting permission and where it is

There is a huge plot of allotments, just 10 minute walk from where I live, and with my mum having an allotment back at home I thought it could be nice to get to know the allotment community in Cheltenham.

To get permission to shoot on these allotments, Midwinter Allotments, I had to email a lady at the council named Fiona, she's the allotment welfare officer and she deals with all the things to do with allotments in Cheltenham. I got quite a few emails of her, about permission, who i could shoot and what i wanted to do with my images as well. Below is the first email i sent her and her reply.

I gained her permission and she put me in contact with someone called Terry who has a plot right at the enterance of Midwinter Allotments. After speaking to Terry I orgnaised to go down there and meet them and some of the other guys that where around at the time.

It was a great experience, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I learnt more about their allotments and what they grow, and how commitied some of them are. Speaking to lots of different people that were around, they all said that their allotment plot is like their own little space in a larger community. Each making it individual to them, from what they grow, how its arranged to how they scare off the birds and decorate the spaces.

The highlighted black area is where the allotments are, so its quite a big place and there roads that run though it to drive around and get to the different plots.
